Paul Syme came to Nova Scotia in 1996 to do his MA In Art Education at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. After completing his NSCAD residency, Paul was assigned to an art teaching position at the new to be built technology infused Horton High School (opened 1998). Paul is now also the Arts Education Consultant for the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board.
Paul has dedicated much of his studies and practice into bringing together the pedagogies of traditional touch-media art and the paradigm of new electronic media. This pedagogical focus and experience has helped Paul to co-write five provincial curriculum documents (Design 11; Vis. Art 11, & 12; and Advanced Vis. Art 11 & 12) as well as a textbook (Art3: Multimedia Art Design).
As an arts education consultant, Paul works to elevate the success and relevance of the arts in the minds and experiences of students and the greater community.

An Advocacy Point: The Arts build critical capacity in students to grow, change their world, and own their learning. The arts promote an ecology of inward and outward inquiry and critique of the status-quo -- qualities we seek in an inclusive learning community.
